Terms of Service
A binding agreement between you and Shadow Kids Studios governing your use of the SnapTrac mobile application. Plain English. Read it once.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Shadow Kids Studios ("we," "us," "our") governing your use of the SnapTrac mobile application for iOS and Android ("SnapTrac" or "the app"). By installing or using SnapTrac you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
You must be at least 18 years old to use SnapTrac.
1. License to use the app
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use SnapTrac on devices you own or control, for your personal use or for tracking expenses for your own business. This license is for the app's intended purpose: scanning, organizing, and exporting receipts that belong to you.
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where local law expressly allows this despite contractual restriction.
- Redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, or lease the app or any part of it.
- Use SnapTrac to scan, store, or process receipts that do not belong to you or to a business you are authorized to operate.
- Use the app to violate any law, infringe any third party's rights, or do anything fraudulent.
- Use the webhook export feature to attack a service you do not own or do not have authorization to send data to.
- Attempt to bypass the free-tier limits, the paywall, or any access controls.
We can revoke this license if you breach these Terms.
2. Subscriptions
SnapTrac is free to install. Some features are gated behind a paid subscription, "SnapTrac Pro."
2.1 Pricing
SnapTrac Pro Monthly: $3.99 USD per month, auto-renewing each month until cancelled.
SnapTrac Pro Annual: $29 USD per year, auto-renewing each year until cancelled.
Prices outside the United States may differ to match local currency, taxes, and Apple/Google's regional pricing tiers. The price for your region will always be displayed in the app before you confirm the purchase.
2.2 No free trial
SnapTrac does not offer a free trial of Pro. The free tier — 5 scans per month, CSV export, 1 business — is itself the trial. Use it for as long as you like. You will only be charged if you choose to subscribe to Pro.
2.3 Auto-renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) at the then-current price. Your iTunes/App Store account or Google Play account will be charged within 24 hours of the end of the current period. If you do not cancel before that window, you will be charged for the next period.
2.4 Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you keep Pro features through the end of the period you already paid for, and we will not charge you again.
To cancel:
- iOS: Settings app → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → SnapTrac → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Google Play Store → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → SnapTrac → Cancel.
We do not have the ability to cancel a subscription on your behalf — Apple and Google control the subscription lifecycle.
2.5 Refunds
Apple and Google are the merchants of record for SnapTrac subscriptions. They process all payments and refunds. We do not collect, store, or process payments, and we do not have a refund button on our end.
To request a refund:
- iOS: Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and submit a refund request for the SnapTrac charge.
- Android: Visit play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory and request a refund on the SnapTrac order.
Apple and Google decide refund requests at their own discretion under their own policies. Where local law requires us to offer a refund regardless of platform policy (for example, a statutory right of withdrawal in the EU/UK within 14 days for digital services that have not been substantially used), email support@shadowkidsstudios.com and we will work with you in good faith to comply.
2.6 Price changes
If we change the price of Pro Monthly or Pro Annual, we will notify you in the app and via the platform's standard subscription-change notice before the new price takes effect, and you will have the opportunity to cancel before being charged at the new rate.
3. Your data
How SnapTrac handles data is described in our Privacy Policy. The short version: SnapTrac stores your receipts locally on your device. We do not run a server that holds your receipt data. You are responsible for keeping a backup of any receipts you need (use Settings → Export → CSV). If you lose your phone or uninstall the app without exporting first, the data on the device is gone — we cannot retrieve it because we never had a copy.
4. Third-party services
SnapTrac uses Google ML Kit for on-device OCR (no data leaves your device), PostHog for anonymous analytics, Sentry for crash reporting, RevenueCat for subscription state, and Apple's App Store / Google Play for payments. Each operates under its own terms and privacy policy. The Privacy Policy linked above covers what is sent to each.
If you configure a webhook URL in the Pro export feature, the receiving service operates under its own terms — not ours.
5. Disclaimer of warranties
SnapTrac is provided "as-is" and "as-available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
In particular:
- OCR accuracy: SnapTrac uses on-device OCR and deterministic parsing to extract merchant, total, tax, and date from receipts. OCR is imperfect. Lighting, paper quality, fonts, and handwriting all affect accuracy. The Edit Receipt screen exists precisely so that you can review and correct anything the parser got wrong before saving. You are responsible for verifying every value before relying on it.
- No tax, accounting, or financial advice: SnapTrac is an expense tracker and receipt organizer. It is not a tax preparation tool, an accounting platform, or a substitute for a CPA. Categorizations, totals, and exports are starting points for your own bookkeeping. Decisions about what to deduct, how to file, or how to run your business are yours alone — we are not liable for those decisions or their financial outcomes.
- No guarantee of availability: We may have downtime, ship bugs, or change features. The app may be unavailable in some regions. New OS versions may break compatibility until we ship a fix.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to SnapTrac or these Terms is limited to the amount you have paid us for SnapTrac in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. If you have not paid us anything in that period, our liability is limited to USD $0.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost revenue, missed tax deductions, missed reimbursements, business interruption, or any losses arising from your reliance on data extracted by the app, regardless of the legal theory and regardless of whether we knew or should have known the loss was possible.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions or limitations, in which case the above applies to the maximum extent allowed in your jurisdiction and the rest remains in force.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for matters that cannot lawfully be limited (for example, fraud, gross negligence, or death/personal injury caused by our negligence in jurisdictions where such limitation is prohibited).
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Shadow Kids Studios and Adam Donovan from claims, damages, costs, and reasonable attorney's fees arising from: (a) your misuse of SnapTrac in breach of Section 1; (b) your violation of any law or third-party right while using the app; or (c) data you transmit through the webhook export feature to a destination of your choosing.
8. Termination
You can stop using SnapTrac at any time. Uninstall the app, and these Terms (other than the sections that by their nature should survive — Sections 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, and 11) terminate automatically.
We can suspend or terminate your access to SnapTrac if you breach these Terms or use the app in a way that creates legal exposure for us. If we do, we will refund any prepaid portion of an annual subscription that has not yet been used, unless the termination is for fraud or for a breach we determine in good faith was material.
9. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of [YOUR STATE], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in [YOUR COUNTY], [YOUR STATE] will be the exclusive venue for disputes that are not resolved informally, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction grants you the right to bring an action in your local courts.
Note for Adam: replace

Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first email support@shadowkidsstudios.com describing the dispute and to give us 30 days to attempt resolution in good faith.
If you are an EU/UK consumer, you also have the option of using the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr — though we hope you will email us first.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will:
- Update the Effective date at the top.
- Post an in-app notice on next launch summarizing the change.
- For changes that affect your payment terms or your rights, require you to accept the new Terms before continuing to use Pro features.

11. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy together are the complete agreement between you and us about SnapTrac, and they supersede any prior understandings about the same subject.
- Severability: If any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
- No waiver: Our not enforcing a right one time does not waive that right going forward.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign ours, for example as part of a sale of the business — your rights as a subscriber will not be reduced as a result.
- Apple-specific terms (iOS only): You and we acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Shadow Kids Studios, not between you and Apple. Apple is not responsible for SnapTrac or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for SnapTrac. In the event of any failure of SnapTrac to conform to applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app to you; to the maximum extent allowed by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you with respect to the iOS version of SnapTrac.
- Google-specific terms (Android only): Your use of the Android version of SnapTrac is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.
